[Verse 1]
A* A A* G F
I could be a rambler from the Seven Dials
A* A A* G F
I don't pay taxes 'cause I never file
A* A A* G F
And I don't do business that doesn't make me smile
                   G F
I love my aeroplane 'cause she got style
                   A A* C B G F
I'm a treetop flyer

[Verse 2]
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down into the canyons
You don't ever see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run
Oh, treetop flyer

[Verse 3]
I fly low, I'm in high demand
I go 15 feet over the Rio Grande
I blow the mesquite right up off of the sand
Seldom seen, especially when I land
I'm a treetop flyer, born survivor

(Instrumental Break - this is essentially a run on 3rd frets of all strings)

[Verse 4]
The people they ask me, "Where'd you learn to fly that way?"
It's over in Vietnam chasin' NVA
The government taught me, and they taught me right
Stay down under the tree line
And you might be alright
Treetop flyer

[Verse 5]
So I'm comin' home, I'm runnin' low and fast
I promised my woman, this is gonna be my last
I get the ship down, I tie her fast
And then somebody walks up and says
"Hey son, wanna make some fast cash?"
Treetop flyer

[Verse 6]
Well, there's things I am and there's things I'm not
I am a smuggler and I could get shot
I ain't gonna die, I ain't gonna get caught
You see, I'm a flyin' fool in an aeroplane
I'm just too hot
I'm a treetop flyer, born survivor

(Instrumental Break)

Hey Bob, Well done on the chords/tab. One of my all time favorites! Looks like you've rec'd some good feedback. :^) HOW did no one else catch this: "Seven Isles??" Maybe it's because I've been a fan of Stephen Stills for more than 45 years. It is: "Seven Dials". Most people do not realize how truly "deep" Stephen's lyrics and life's experiences really are. GOOD STUFF. Thanks for the otherwise great interpretation. You can feel the forlorn-ness of the story teller, far more so than in Dylan's version. "The Seven Dials: The landed estate formally belonged to the Worshipful Company of Mercers which allowed building licences on what was open farmland to maximise their income in what was the burgeoning West End of the developing metropolitan area. The original layout of the Seven Dials area was designed by Thomas Neale in the early 1690s. The original plan had six roads converging, although this was later increased to seven. The sundial pillar was built with only six faces, with the dial itself acting as the seventh. This number of roads was chosen in order to maximise the number of houses that could be built on the site."

You put the line: "It's over in Vietnam chasin' MBAs" The last word should be NVA's for North Vietnamese Airforce.

Actually, it's North Vietnamese Army. Not much air-to-air happened there, and what little there was, was against the Soviet Air Force, where they used the convenient excuse of "training" the North Vietnamese as a pretense to test their tactics and equipment against the USAF. Yes, I know, I'm being picky. Sorry about that. I've got uncles and such who were there and still have nightmares from the experience.
